Gradient’s 5-day cutting course is the ultimate class to learn all aspects of Hair Architecture. Using scissors you will gain knowledge in theory and practice by understanding how to create shapes by using specific sectioning patterns, and techniques with proper kinetics. You will also learn how to use clippers and the GFR technique to achieve a variety of seamless fades on different hair textures. The Graduates from this class will have a thorough understanding of how to implement scissor and clipper work together to achieve trending hairstyles. There is a methodology to cutting hair and our team will help you build your confidence utilizing a systematic approach. In this 5 day course you will learn:

We will specifically showcase a variety of skills including sectioning hair, scissor work, texturizing, scissor over comb, fading, shaping,outlining, blow-drying, and styling with the right products.

This 40-hour intensive course is made for individuals to gain confidence and control in their hair cutting profession. Our unique “SIMONS SAYS” in-depth hands-on training allows students to thoroughly learn how to build like an architect so they can appreciate not just “how” to cut hair but also the ‘why’. The small instructor-to-student ratio is something that we take very seriously to allow students to develop as fast as possible.

Practical Scissor Foundation: Line + Square Layers
Building a SQUARE shape HORIZONTALLY and VERTICALLY by taking precise sections on a mannequin.

  • Washing hair
  • Holding scissors and a comb
  • Mapping and subsections 
  • Cutting square LAYERS starting from the back, sides, top
  • Lunch break
  • Continue cutting hair on a mannequin

Blowdrying and Styling 

  • Blow drying with aim and purpose with a diffuser
  • Using products to keep hair in place
  • Finishing with hairspray

 

DAY TWO   ROUND GRADUATION

Evaluation Game

  • Students will have to work together in a timely manner to put all of the head diagrams together. 
  • Ex. Shapes, technique, kinetics, sections, over direction.

Building a ROUND shape HORIZONTALLY and a TRIANGULAR shape vertically on the sides. Build  a TRIANGLE  shape vertically and SQUARE SHAPE horizontally on the top.

    Practical Scissor Foundation: Graduation with a taper
    Building a ROUND shape HORIZONTALLY and TRIANGLE shape vertically on the sides. Building a TRIANGLE shape vertically and SQUARE SHAPE horizontally on the top. Scissor over Comb, Fade into the graduation. Then learn how to blow drying using a nozzle and a vent brush. This will be done on a mannequin head. 

     

    Practical Scissor Foundation: Crop with a Skin Fade
    Forward Graduation on the sides. Layering square vertically and triangle horizontally on the top. Fading the sides skin high. This will be done on a mannequin head
